Aicha Zakraoui is Project Associate for Energy Vision’s international initiative. Since joining EV in February of 2015, she has coordinated EV’s efforts to introduce the organic waste-to-energy strategy in the Middle East-North Africa (MENA) region, primarily in Tunisia, birthplace of the Arab Spring movement in 2011. This past April (2015) she presented with Joanna Underwood on the potential for the organics-to-energy strategy at the annual SWEEP-Net Conference (Solid Waste Exchange of Information and Expertise) in Tunis and met with key members of parliament and business leaders. Her research and writing on the topic has been featured in Tunisian journals, and she has participated in multiple local radio broadcasts. These efforts have garnered significant interest from Tunisian investors, project developers, policymakers and NGOs.
Prior to joining Energy Vision, Aicha worked in New York City for GreenMax Capital Advisors and in Tunis as a business analyst for PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and intern with Pfizer. In addition, she was an intern at the UN in New York, where she undertook project-based management work for the UN Democracy Fund and as trainee for the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris. Aicha has a Master’s Degree in Business Management from the ISG Business school in Paris. She is fluent in English, French and Arabic.
